Battlefield Gaming Site Header

Page 3 - Making the buttom

To make the buttons along the bottom you first have to create a rectangle that runs along the bottom of the image and use these layer styles, you remember to make a new layer right? (CTRL-SHIFT-N.
Now in blending options on that layer, add these settings, to the Gradient Overlay:

Next, to create the divisions use the rulers to mark out the edges of each button. Because the image is 690 pixels wide I placed my divisions every 115 pixels. It?s best to make sure the all the buttons are equal and that you can divide the total width of the header by the width of each button because this is much more aesthetically pleasing. Once you have the dividers in place, remove the guidelines (if you wish) and apply the following layer style:

Create a rounded rectangle towards the top of the row of buttons making sure it covers less than half the height of the buttons. Change the blending style to ?Soft Light? and the opacity to around 45%. You should get something looking like this:

Create another rectangle that runs along the top of the buttons from one side of the image to the other. It should be no more than a few pixels tall (around 5) and apply these layer styles:

Hi,
It all works fine, but the last step, when i click gradient tool and use it on the layer mask the entire font just becomes a bit lighter, i guess its something with the gradient color, but honestly i have no idea. Everything else is great, and your Battlefield 2142 header is awesome!
Btw. did you add any shadows or glows to the vertical lines which u get by brushing it, because in your header they look thicker than in mine.
